‘E’s what?!’ You read what I said, didn’t you? Or did you read ‘For E’s a jolly good fellow?’ E-asily done! I have done it myself and will no doubt do so again if I am not careful.
But here’s the thing. It came to me this morning in the wee small hours after I had had a wee! Which is why they are called the wee small hours of course.
E is the 5th letter of the E-nglish language.
E is the most common letter in the alphabet.
The 5th letter of the Hebrew alphabet (or perhaps that should be the alephbeis) is the ה, the hey or hei, which represents the Son of God, Jesus Christ.
The Bible contains the word of God.
Jesus is the word of God, the bread of life.
The scriptures contain Him, are Him, they speak of Him. He is the most common letter as it were.
He said ‘Follow me’ to His disciples as He says to us today. He said that if we have seen Him we have seen the Father, the heavenly Father.
So we, if we do, follow Him, the He, to see God the Father.
Jesus is the Lord of the Dance as the hymn says, the rhythm of Life in all its fullness.
A Life full of joy and jollity, even if it is hard.
So that is why I say to you and perhaps you will join with me in singing
‘For E’s a jolly God follow, For E’s a jolly God follow,
For E’s a jolly God follow, and so say all of us,
And so say all of us, and so say all of us!
For E’s a jolly God follow, For E’s a jolly God follow,
For E’s a jolly God follow – and so say all of us!’

P.S. In the USA I understand there is a different version of the original from which I have adapted the words.
‘For E’s a jolly God follow, For E’s a jolly God follow,
For E’s a jolly God follow, which nobody can deny,
Which nobody can deny, which nobody can deny!
‘For E’s a jolly God follow, For E’s a jolly God follow,
For E’s a jolly God follow – which nobody can deny!
Personally I don’t think you need another version. After all in the British version it does say, at the end, so say all of US, the U.S.!!!

For the meaning of certain Hebrew letters see this link of mine.
“All of U.S.” doesn’t that mean the whole world?

Hello Ankur
Thank you for your comment. All of the United States in this instance. I was playing with the the words as usual. I did this because many in the USA seem to think the USA is the whole world and became arrogant. Therefore it is in the mess it is today because of that.
But yes, you are right of course. My point I wanted to make was that the British version is fine as it is to cover the whole world and the USA doesn’t need to alter that.
‘So say all of us’ is an encouragement to all prepared to sing along with it. The USA version says ‘…which nobody can deny’, but people can and do.
Sadly as we see today, many in the USA do deny Jesus is a jolly God Follow and this explains the arrogance. Jesus came as a servant, and that is why I follow him.
Yours
Baldmichael
